Beth Shapiro is a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She's voiced skepticism of the extinction plans in the past but now she works with Colossal. De-extinction is not a solution to the extinction crisis that's underway today,. But developing the technologies is absolutely critical to help species that are alive today adapt to their rapidly changing habitats.
