When people experience over and over again that their expressions of distress are met with defensiveness, minimization, avoidance, any of those things, a core belief about their partner begins to develop. And resentments start to build. Not huge resentments, you know, it's just taken out the recycling, but each of those resentments is like a sheet of paper,. You know, just a tiny little layer. Over time, they build up and they building up and they build up. So after a while, they might even stop trying.
