It's very common in Europe among the Indo-European languages of Europe, but I've seen it in other languages in Asia as well. The Chinese formal you pronoun comes from a historical plural that was contracted. Tagalog also has that. Ainu Coppola takes transitive verb subject prefixes, but no object, object prefixes which is kind of weird.
