On February 14, 1642, a planter by the name of John Wakeman went to the New Haven, Connecticut Magistrates to make a truly strange but very serious accusation. He said that he had in his possession a stillborn piglet given birth to by a sow he had just purchased. His proof was that the prodigious monster looked suspiciously like a servant named George Spencer who worked for the man who had sold him the sow.
