Autistic Versus Person With Autism Versus on the Spectrum
Helena: I think it's important to first remember that the person with autism has a right to identify themselves, to find themselves. Helena: The most popular way to identify at this point is what we call identity-first language - being autistic as opposed to having autism or being on the spectrum. She says not every self-advocacy community identifies the same way. A lot of people do feel comfortable or prefer to identify us on the spectrum or having autism.
