A. A. Dowden's new book is about the postword period and how it evolved into the sixties, seventies and eighties. He says he wanted to be as accurate in his account of that time as possible but also make sure there was an important story being told. The most difficult chapters for him were the conspiracy chapter which took up 20 thousand words at one point or so.
