You could just turn to Amos if you were in need of a book wreck. His books of essays might, I might enjoy more now than his novels. He seemed like he was trying to kind of aspire to be something that he wasn't necessarily. And yet he had this thing with his style where he obviously valued style and he was devoted to it.
