I think the reader does need a change in, you know, like some meals need to have some brown rice. And I do this too when I've written books where I'm there inside jokes and there are phrases that you throw in there that you know most of the people reading the book aren't going to get. That's kind of like how I learned to write and how I learn to write funny was that like working within that incredibly tiny little space. It could even be counterproductive because if you do it too much, it starts to seem like advertising copy, right? It's too dense.
