The whole thing is set in Edinburgh. Might be very difficult for them to understand because it was difficult for me to understand on occasions. They speak with a very strong accents. I don't know if you've ever read the book. No because I hate books that write speech in dialect. I find it really irritating. It's written phonetically so the way that the local characters speak is actually spelled out. The spelling is different and the whole thing's written in this strong accent. So it must be really really hard for learners of English to understand that. Oh yeah. Yes it is but having said that I was streaming with tears by the end of it. Were you really? Oh yeah
Here's part 2 of this conversation with my Mum in which you can hear us wittering on about the bookshop where Mum works, some of the books she's read recently, and some of her podcast and film recommendations. Vocabulary is explained at the end, and there's a vocabulary list with definitions available.
