The Benefits of a Weighed Tree Saddle
Tom Dorrance designed the weighed tree at Hamley's in 1940. He wanted it to fit a horse differently than you look at some of the old time pictures, all the saddle tracks that those bear traps made on those horses. Tom was the one to suggest that the bars flare out in the front to allow the shoulder to pass underneath. And then he wanted the leg position to be what would be considered proper in classical riding.
