The Importance of Listening to Chinese Tech Companies

We don't really have evidence that China is using TikTok to spy on Americans or to manipulate American public sentiment. There's meaningful circumstantial reason to doubt whether China even would do this, but because the technical provisions of TikTok's proposed plan for operating in the US would make spying not very attractive as an option. What we know about the Chinese state's priorities and its oversight of tech companies like bite dance, maybe points away at least at the moment from Beijing wanting to wield TikTok as a tool of explicit overseas influence and propaganda. We need to understand the context in which these messages are being sent to bite dance in order to know what they mean.
