Family members would send in messages and photographs to a central email address. We'd put them round the bedside, or we'd read them to patients even if they were unconscious. Even just the soothing words of being read a letter or message from their families was helpful. They kept a diary for me so that right through the incubation period, when i was complete naware, each staff member made a note of the 12 hours they were looking after me. And that's a bit of an iopne how the staff reguard you, they cared about you.
