The Second Time I Got Targeted by State Security in Serbia

"I was a teacher in the former Yugoslavia which in this place called Serbia and I love it there but I got targeted by their state security guys because you're supposed to register with the police wherever you live," she says. "They locked me up overnight with a bunch of these Roma women that were just chain smoking ... they were chain smoking unfiltered cigarettes the whole night." She went straight to the U.S. embassy at one point after being taken into custody, where officials apologized for her actions.
