The Relationship Between Black America and the Cuban People
The relationship goes back to the 19th century. Cuba was a stopping off point in bringing slaves to, now the United States. Baseball emerged in Cuba and in the U.S. around the same time. All players from the so-called Negro leagues that were the black players that had been segregated out of the white so-called major leagues would go to Cuba. And they'd play off season, they'd play on Cuban teams as the good of Mexican teams.
