Er, i think that er, for me, has been crucial is to reconsider the e east westen marcation in europeer and really to put it in a wider perspective. And manuella batka er, she has unfolded the concept of multiple europes as a perspective. Both eastern europe and the balcan end, spain and portugal, are seen ar placed as semi peripheres. But the semi peripheries played quite different rolls in the history since the sixteenth century. So we can say that this kind of borderland concept can work as a representation of europe itself,. with its multiplicity and overlapping layers of historical, political and cultural formations.
