Objective Functions as a PhD Student
There's a set of research questions that's independent of large language models, then there's like the issue of can we feasibly scientifically study large language models. There's also an even separate question of the kind of like sociological effects of promoting or valuing certain research questions in a certain way. And one is to think about objective functions. So if you could think of like some objective function that you say was kind of guiding your behavior as a PhD student, what would it be?
