The Morse Code Signal SOS

The Morse code signal SOS does not stand for save our ship, but originally was meant to stand for salvo Essenus which is Latin for save our ass. So what does SOS stand for? No idea. What do you guys think? Sound of sinking. Save our spaghetti. Something into different language. I don't know. This is only whatever. People had senses of humor back then. And there was whimsy back in the 19th century, but this is fiction I made it up. It's less than a minute. Yeah. Shortest. Flight times varied but depending on the winds and whatever but it could be 53 seconds.
