Okay, before the break, we were getting some advice on advancing our product career from Jackie Bovaro, the woman that literally wrote the book on it, her book, cracking the PM career and cracking the PM interview. They are essential reading for any product manager who's just starting out in their career, or maybe those that are finding themselves at a career crossroads, or really any product management professional. There's no wrong time to be focused on your product career. In fact, we should be focused on developing our career all of the time. In my conversation with Jackie, I asked a series of questions that we often receive from our product community at Collective, almost like a product career FAQ, if you will. And it started out with job hopping, at least intentional job hopping. I've heard from some people that one strategy to continue to up your pay is to intentionally not stay at a job for very long and look to change opportunities after just a year or two. The reason is it's a way to boost your salary very quickly. Oftentimes, the way that people get big salary jumps, it's not necessarily from raises at their current employer. Rather, it's taking on an entirely new role somewhere else. But is this actually a good strategy? Jackie's not so sure. At least not right now, not for the sole purpose of increasing your salary anyway. Here's Jackie.
