The Pro-War Liberals
There was a long tradition of pro-war, pro-intervention, self-described liberals. That goes at least back to the 1940s. At least until 1964, when Goldwater came along and was supposedly in favor of using atomic weapons. But the difference between him and LBJ, Lyndon Baines Johnson, who was the Democratic candidate in 1964, was not that Johnson was anti-war at all.
