Using a Neural Network to Translate Languages
A group at Microsoft down the hole started work on a new project in 2003. They were building a system that translated languages using a technique based on statistics. The idea being, if a set of words in one language appeared with the same frequency and context in another, that was the likely translation. At the time, we didn't have the amount of data needed to train a neural network nor the processing power.
