The Hedonic Treadmill
When people talk about the hedonic treadmill, what do they mean by that phrase? What is the hedonIC treadmill? I think of the hedonics as basically hedonic adaptation in action. So when we move into a bigger house and neighborhood, suddenly we notice our neighbors have houses that might be even nicer than ours. And so there are social comparisons changed, which also lead us to kind of want more.
