The Unspoken Aspects of the Cold War

Sophie Oxen: I felt that it was important for you to show the unspoken aspects of the Cold War and the scars that it left on Eastern Europe. Sophie, we're going to Paris in France now for a question from Celeste Chick. So why the particular storyline you chose predominantly the story of these two different women? And obviously you had to leave things out in order to focus on that storyline. Why that storyline? Well, there's so many different themes and topics in the in the novel,. But I wanted to describe the first years or what the world was like after Estonia, had regained its independence.
