The Greenham Women's Camp?
In the winter it was much more a case of bums on seats, because it was really hard in the winter. People didn't have vehicles nearly so much, especially women. So having the van made it easier for bailiffs when the evictions happened. One of the rules that we quickly developed for men coming to camp was that if supportive men could come in the daylight to bring us firewood or food or whatever. They might bring us tarpaulins. But after dark, if men were approaching the camp, we knew that they were not supportive. So that's a whole other form of violence. You know, i wasn't ever in any fear of having my vehicle impounded
