Is the Electron Going Round, Omitting Radiation?

It used to be a mystery why electrons do not fall on to the nucleus in a flash of radiation. So what keeps them so far apart, and what makes atoms stable at that size? In non technical accounts, the structure of atoms is sometimes explained by analogy with the solar system. But that does not match the reality.
