The first step is athletes have to get the feeling of moving fast. So it doesn't matter what their actual speed is, you need to find drills in which they are moving super fast. And this can even go back into like the nervous system type training from like Marnevich. If someone's performing straddle jumps, only half of their body weight is on each leg. Then there's a lot of physical capacity work that has to be done to allow them to get a little bit further to the side. But one of my favorite things to do is just different variations of those types of things and I think that alone, especially within short distances, will tell you a lot about how well
