The argument from the left might be, yeah, it would be nice to live in a world where we could just admit on basis of meritocracy. But unless you force these institutions to take people in certain percentages, we're going to find ourselves inching back to a world where they just prioritize their preferred groups. Asian Americans are outperforming whites academically. This is not a problem that is intractable.
