The Second Movement by Berlios
Berlios writes a long nature scene portraying two shepherds calling each other from across the mountains. He even directs the obel player to go somewhere in the hall off the stage to better emphas s the distance between the sounds. The setting, the gentle rustling of the trees in the light wind all conspire to restore to his heart an unaccustomed feeling of calm and to give to his thoughts a coloring. Berlios is using quite simple harmonies, just like beethoven often does,. by the way, to create this pastoral calm and tranquillity.
