The Difference Between Fearlessness and Courage
Plato makes a distinction between fearlessness and courage. He says you can be a phobos, but to be undrayous to be courageous is another thing altogether. But it might be that the distinction is not as clear-cut as we would like it to be,. It's Plato who identifies the thumos with a lion and the lion part of the soul. The dialogue ends in aporilla, in a state of kind of perplexity, not really knowing where to go next.
