Introduction

Professor Mark Leon is a professor emeritus at Wits University in Johannesburg. He'll be speaking to us about free will and whether it's compatible with determinism. Freedom can be variously understood as suggesting that every event has a cause, or that every event follows from a set of initial conditions together with the laws of nature. It cannot be the case for either of those that we are free and determined.
