The Battle of Tragedy in Rome

The battle in the tuderburg forest is widely recognized as one of those earth shattering events that s the course of history. Just days before, the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth legions, plus accompanying cavalry and auxiliary troops, all told, accounting for some 20 thousand men, had been slaughtered. Augustus was reported to have stopped shaving for months after news of the massacre reached rome - a traditional step in the roman mourning process. The romans were unable to use their archers or even hold up their water logged shields.
