The Process of Separating Self From World

A large amount of the neural machinery is devoted specifically to processing and routing information. We are sort of immediate, what's first in the order of awareness is perceptual information. The perceptual information contains a lot of information about us and our situation in the environment. Our best described in cognitive terms, that is using the information theoretic vocabulary that comes naturally when you're describing minds. That process of kind of separating self from world is the process in which our notions of ourselves get articulated and firmed up.
