Asyl-Resistant Aspergillus Spores

Megatus is developing resistance across the planet to frontline antifungal drugs that are based on the asyl chemical structure. The same class of chemicals is used in the environment, as is used in clinics and that's why the Aspergillus can colonize our patients. So essentially, what we've done is we've conducted a global evolutionary experiment by exposing fungi to these very, very widely deployed chemicals. And they've done what fungi do and has responded to them. Natural selection has done its thing and changed the population structure of the fungi in ways that we don't really understand.
