The Power of Domestic Mastery

There's a lot of incidental domestic mastery in our lives that typically we have denigrated or condescended to. I remember being stunned and thinking how could any human being do something like that? That's my mom. My mother is not though she's a baker and there's a whole long chapter about her baking. We're enormously similar and therefore we have a thorny relationship as we tend to do with people we are exactly alike. And it's a wonderful chapter that makes, you can't read it when you're hungry because it just sounds all too delicious everything that you make.
