The Great Unconformity
The great inconformity is a gap of hundreds of millions to billions of years in the geologic record that is found around the world. The term was first coined at actually the rim of the grand canyon by a geologist by the name of clarence dutton. And it turns out that this naming location is really just one instance a much broader phenomenon.
