The Effect of the Second Opium War on the Chinese Economy

The treaty of Tianjin opened 10 more ports, treaty ports in China. Foreign ships can now sort of freely levicate on the river of Yangtze. It also allowed foreign missionaries to go in which previously they were not permitted to go inside of Chinese interior. One of the other demands was to make opium trade legal, or import of opium legal.
