Napoleon's War With France - A Brief History
When Britain chose to resume the war in early 1803, they did so with a bang. The French merchant fleet was devastated all over the world as unsuspecting ships were seized by the Royal Navy. Napoleon ordered all British subjects in French-controlled territory arrested and detained. These detainees would be held as prisoners of war, meaning indefinitely and without trial.
