James perrington was woken by his father wielding an axe at 2 or 3 in the morning. He tried to escape because he said his father looked like a madman. James junior turned around and revealed a massive gash on his back and shoulder where his father's axe had narrowly missed his neck. His younger brother, benjamin, who was 12, heard him get up and run out the doorr so when he saw this scene, he himself ran for the front door.
