The Importance of Volunteers in Public Education
The Washington Post recently did an investigation into the origins of the calls to ban books and found that the vast majority of complaints have been filed by just 11 people. No one should, of course, experience that, but certainly not, you know, people who are running a PTA or a local school board. The field of public education is seen as almost places where citizens go to contribute. Sometimes they get paid, but it's sort of an obligation, right? You want a good school system. You want to support it.
