The Oracles to the Nations and the Lord's Redemptive Work
Prophecy begins with the voice of the lord roaring from zion, causing the land to wither and mourn. He is about to enter into judgment with the nations and then with judah and israel. Sweene makes the suggestion that all these nations would have been allies or vassals of jereboam - giving their transgressions a political overtone. They also illustrate the existence of more general moral standards knowable by people of every nation.
