Caesar and the Helvetii

The Roman invasion of Gaul had begun. Caesar caught up with the Helvetii as they crossed what is today the Sohn River, near the border between Switzerland and France. In order to stay mobile during the invasion, Caesar decided to forego establishing a secure supply line back to Roman territory. This was a risky decision that very nearly ended the invasion before it really began.
