The Different Types of Meteorites
The flight of a meteorite often extends over a path several hundred miles in length. Some stones are too hot to handle for hours after they fall, while still others have been picked up cool or even intensely cold. Meteorites have been seen to fall upon dried grass and upon straw without producing even charring effects. Evidence regarding the depths to which meteorites penetrate the ground is quite as conflicting.
