The Only Way to Make Sense Is to Tell the Whole Story

The only way the fire bombing of tokyo, or the atomic bombing of yorshim and nagasaki make sense to me is if i go back to the chinese. You have to tell the story of how there was this no surrender ethic which had been inculcated into the japanese military. And so again, i don't think it's hard to sort of sit down with someone who doesn't know the history and to lay it out without going back and really telling the entire story. That's what i set out to do in this, a three volume history,. I don't think the story can be in any less than, you know, 18 hundred pages
