The Resilient Properties of Language
Chinese children are affected by culture in little ways. Many of the orderings that they use, so if you talk about doing something to an object, they gesture and point at the object first and then gesture the action. There's an explanatory value to those gestures that's not tied to our grammatical rules. And I'm still intrigued by the fact that they have a great deal of commonality.
