The Importance of Purgatory
Purgatory is a transitional state, right? It's purification. What we believe about the human person has much to do with what we believe about Purgatory. We're made in God's image and likeness; then when we had the fall, we are deprived of that original holiness. But we do not become depraved. The Catholic view is like more like intrinsic justification,. meaning it has to actually transform our hearts. And if I die in God's friendship, but I'm still clinging to my attachments, something has to happen in me.
