Should We Make Our Students Read Homer?
Dewy: If you're asking, should we make our students read homer? You'd just have to evaluate that in terms of, can we teach it in a way that is going to give them the mental habits. But i think het would be equally hostile to a dogma that said, the child and the child alone shall decide what interests them and what they will learn. He certainly is a democratic dogmatist.
