The Rise and Fall of AT&T in the 1970s
There are no windows on this building. And now just giant slabs of concrete. It was built with three-foot-wide slits that kind of went all the way up and down. The US government, federal regulators, were bringing another antitrust case against the company. This would ultimately be settled through another consent decree in 1982,. which would force AT&T to divest itself of all of its regional bell operating companies. That would go into effect in 1984.
