The Problem With Pedantry
I have the problem of when I make a statement. Everyone comes at me and says, there is no wrong way to do that. So my problem is the opposite. It's drilled into you from the very first day you study linguistics, that there is no correct way to speak. There's always a bit of a word for two things that conflict with each other. Contradiction? That'll do. Thank you. But also, there are things such as standard academic English and that can technically have rules that you should have to follow. Brian: "It's literally my job to do this"
