America's debt ceiling is currently set at $31.4 trillion, which is about 117% of GDP. Unless Congress agrees to raise or waive the limit, America will default. Simon Rabinovich says a default would be almost unthinkable in terms of its consequences. The White House has estimated that we're the standoff to last for a quarter.

Today, the president will meet with the Republican leader in the house of representatives to try and prevent the country from defaulting. But what if they cannot come to an agreement?
