The poper model for talking about this, a i learning from open source code is not what it's being made out to be. It's basically the same thing going on as when a larval form human programmer reads your source code and learns how to programm by seeing what you've done. Some of thebiggest problem is that the law on a bunch of this stuff is unclear. And specially around the g p l and so on, we don't think we want it to be tested. If it were to go the wrong way, it could upset the entire eco system.
