Stross: Even a superficial reading of the book is valuable. I would not want anybody to be dissuaded from picking up the book and giving it a go. The beautiful thing like a great teacher is that strauss gives both newcomers and beginners something to take home with themselves. And very experienced, very thoughtful, careful readers a lifetime to take home, like you've been doing with him.
